Hi Omar,

I'm having trouble getting the script to work.
1st I tried installing it on my Niche Simple server
Then when that didn't work I tried Host Gator
Neither worked.

I'm uploading in auto mode
I'm setting the activities folder to 777 (or 755 on Hostgator per the way their servers are set up) Not the contents just the folder.
Yesterday I could see the control panel on niche simple server but the generated url when pasted into
IE pulled up an error message

Today I redownload the script & reinstalled it
Now all I get are error messages, internal server error etc.

In fact I just tried the demo install
http://rssmagician.com/demoinstall/rss.php?source=articles&from=3&for=
and got this;
"XML document must have a top level element. Error processing resource 'http://rssmagician.com/demoinstall/rss.php?source=ar..."

Does the script phone home & your server is down or Huh

Your help please
Where do I start

Thanks
Dave

The script does not call home and our servers are not down, though the demo seems a bit broken and will need a fix.

What is the error you ot in IE and what is the feed you used? That is both needed to get an idea of what could be wrong. As about the 500 server error, you probably played with the chmodd and did something wrong. I am not sure what kind of host Niche Simple gives, usually suchservices allow very simple things, like just have html files or run their own scripts only. It should work on Hostgator though.

Hi Oman,

I reinstalled the script again & it is working well enough today that I can access the control panel.
I chose,  grab articles from article base for the term: health
generated the url.
http://www."mydomain".com/rssm/rss.php?source=articles&from=1&for=health
When I click on the url I get these error messages;

ON NICHE SIMPLE I GET THIS
"The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
XML document must have a top level element. Error processing resource 'http://www."mydomain".com/rssm/rss.php?source=article..."

Now since I last posted I have discovered something that may or may not be a factor
Niche Simple has a a path of  /home2/"mydomain"/public_html (which I have not seen before, a bit unusually)

Do not know if that's a problem or not?

ON HOSTGATOR, WITH THE SAME VARIABLES, I GET THIS
The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
XML document must have a top level element. Error processing resource 'http://www."mydomain".com/rssm/rss.php?sou...

Anyway it appears to be the same basic error on either host to me

Please Advise
Dave

Send me your hostgator url, and ftp access (email preferable). The path in the other host is too weird indeed and will be better to debug on the one that i know for sure should work.

For anyone with similar problem, download the latest source for the script and update all files. We made some updates to parsers and even added more sources. If problem persist, email me with ftp access because it is probably a local issue.
