This was already posted by Scott in another section of the forum, but is good to have it here too.

The issue is that many people buy a script and download after their purchase, but they try to install weeks, months, and i seen some1 that first used it almost a year after purchase (was blogsolution). That leads to old bugs, already fixed, to show up in their installs. This is why a good practice to is to download the files before a new install, or run an update after installed with old files if you have any problems.

So, here are the instructions on how to update your stores, plus, you can view a new update tutorial video here - http://storestacker.com/videos.html.

The link where can always get our latest files and updates is http://halfagain.com/delivery/.

First, navigate to this link, enter your order ID # and download the 'installation archive'. This is a full zip of the latest version of StoreStacker (you'll need to update everything that's mentioned below).

(This process is only an update and will keep your existing store intact.)
1) Unzip the file (install.zip) you downloaded.

2) Upload and overwrite all files from the store root (admin.php, index.php, install.php, click.php).
PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT REUPLOAD the .htaccess file. Never upload htaccess again after your initial install.

3) Upload and overwrite your /admin/ folder.

4) Upload and overwrite your /plugins/ folder.
If there are additional plugins that you have in separate zips (like clickbank), unzip them and upload your plugin folder to your StoreStacker plugins folder, next to default plugins (ebay and amazon)

5) Upload and overwrite all of the files inside /common/ folder root: lc.p, common.php, crpt.php, ebat_rss.php.. and so on to xml.php.
Only upload the files at this step.

6) Upload and overwrite /adodb/ and /smarty/ folders inside /common/ folder root
Only upload the /adodb/ and /smarty/ folders, but NOT the other folder (SiteemoLSA) and NEVER just upload the whole common folder.

7) If there were no changes to templates, you can also upload the /template/ folder. If you made custom changes to your templates, do not upload again.

1 MAJOR RULE FOR UPLOADING FILES:
Make sure your ftp client is set to use binary upload, as all files need to be uploaded in Binary mode. Never use ascii or auto.
