Is there any way the pictured could be linked on the product pages? I think customers expect this and it could be affecting click-through rates.

I think this is related, but I've been using the feeds generated by SS on other sites and it's working quite well, but it would be nice to see the pics in the feeds that are generated as linked as well.

That is not really a feature. Is pretty easy doable by altering the template code of home.tpl and category.tpl
