adding banners for new affiliates to SS

I am a newbie, but getting better all the time!  I have signed up for a couple of small affiliates and they have provided me with banners/buttons to link to their sites.  I have been copying and pasting into 'top content' under my category to display, but I know this is not the proper way to do so.  Where do I add these in my file manager via cpanel to have them in the folders of SS. I know i should be saving these in a file folder named 'xyz' then uploaded via ftp.  But where to put them is my problem.

Well.. you can put the banners anywhere you want, as long as if you create a folder for them, like /images/ you make proper changes in htaccess to allow the folder to be loaded and you also use the proper path to images in the html code when you add your banner code in the templates (you can also add the banner code in top or bottom content, on in Ad units)
